How it works

How appliance removal works with Penguin Junk Removal

  1. Book your pickup

Tell us what appliance you need removed — model and location in the home. Book online, by phone, or text. Most calls are scheduled within 24–48 hours.

  2. We confirm the arrival window

You'll get a 1–3 hour arrival window the morning of the job, plus a text when the crew is on the way.

  3. On-site quote before we lift

Our two- to four-person crew walks through with you and gives a final, no-obligation quote based on the appliance and access. You're free to decline at no cost.

  4. Safe disconnect

We shut off water valves, close gas valves (we don't cut), and unplug standard power. Hard-wired electrical or plumbing work isn't included.

  5. Carry-out & truck loading

We use dollies, blankets, and door-jamb protection to carry the unit out of basements, second-floor laundry rooms, or wherever it lives. Then we load it on the truck.

  6. Certified recycling

Refrigerant-containing units go to licensed recyclers that capture coolant and reclaim the metal. Working appliances under 10 years old are donated when possible.

  7. Payment & sweep-up

You pay the on-site quote when we're done — card, ACH, or cash. We sweep the space and you sign off.

We pull old fridges out of basements, lift water heaters off of pedestals, disconnect washer-dryer stacks, and haul window A/C units back down to the curb — every working day across Southeast Michigan.

The hardest part of getting rid of an appliance isn’t paying for the removal. It’s the disconnect, the move, the staircase, the trip to the recycling center. We do all of it.

What’s included

  • Safe disconnect of water lines, gas valves (closing only — we don’t cut), and standard power plugs
  • Two- to four-person carry-out from anywhere on the property
  • Floor & wall protection with our own blankets and door-jamb covers
  • Certified recycling of refrigerant-containing units through licensed facilities
  • Donations of working appliances to local nonprofits when possible

We schedule appliance pickups same-day and next-day whenever our route allows.

Do you disconnect the appliance?
Yes — basic disconnects (unplugging, shutting off water valves) are included. We don't do hard-wired electrical or plumbing work, but we handle every standard hookup.
What happens to old refrigerators?
We recycle them through certified facilities that safely capture refrigerants and reclaim the metal, glass, and plastic. Old appliances do not have to go to the landfill.
