Penguin Junk Removal

Donation-first disposal

Anything that can be reused is. We work with local Southeast Michigan nonprofits and recycling partners to keep usable goods out of the landfill — even when 'getting rid of it' is the goal.

How donation-first works

On every job, before anything goes in the truck, we set aside items that are in donatable condition. Once the truck is loaded, our route includes scheduled stops at local nonprofit partners — Habitat for Humanity ReStores, charity thrift shops, and other community organizations across Southeast Michigan.

What we donate

  • Furniture in usable, clean condition
  • Working appliances (under 10 years old, in most cases)
  • Sporting goods, exercise equipment, bicycles
  • Tools and yard equipment
  • Kids' toys and gear (in good condition)
  • Building materials, fixtures, and supplies
  • Office furniture (desks, chairs, file cabinets)

What we recycle

  • Metal — appliances, frames, tools, fixtures
  • E-waste — TVs, computers, monitors, electronics
  • Mattresses — separated into steel, foam, and cotton
  • Cardboard, paper, plastics — through municipal recycling
  • Refrigerants — captured through certified facilities

What does go to the landfill

Some items simply can't be reused or recycled. We dispose of those properly through licensed transfer stations. We track our diversion rate as a company and we're working to push it higher every year.

Want a donation receipt?

If you'd like a tax-deductible donation receipt for items in your job, let us know during scheduling. We can route eligible items to a partner charity that issues receipts and follow up with the documentation.
